On my way to work this morning this is what I was stuck behind.

I drive thru a canyon on a 2 lane highway and I will not pass there are also donkeys in the canyon that is anouther reason I will not pass. Every time the truck turned I could have sworn the whole load was going to fall off, luckly it did not. When we got to the light I pulled up next to them and of course you can guess what ethnicity they were. LOL :)

Trap Door Spiders

Have you ever heard of such a thing, well Brent can locate one of these trap doors on the side of any hill with in a few minutes of searching. I took these photos on our latest hiking adventure.

The trapdoor is difficult to see when it is closed because the plant and soil materials effectively camouflage it. The trapdoor is hinged on one side with silk. The spiders, which are usually nocturnal, typically wait for prey while holding onto the underside of the door with the claws on their tarsi. Prey is captured when insects, other arthropods, or small vertebrates venture too close to the half-open trapdoor at night. The spider detects the prey by vibrations and when it comes close enough, the spider leaps out of its burrow and captures it.

A hungry individual will wait halfway outside of its burrow for a meal. Male trapdoor spiders can overcome the females' aggressive reactions to their approach, but it is not known how. Females never travel far from their burrows, especially if they have an eggsac. During this time, the female will capture food and regurgitate it to feed her spiderlings. Enemies of the trapdoor spider include certain pompilid (spider) wasps, which seek out the burrows and manage to gain entrance. They sting the owner and lay their eggs (usually one per spider) on its body. When the egg hatches, the larva devours the spider alive.

Unlike other mygalomorph spiders, the Ctenizidae have a rastellum on the chelicera. Resembling "teeth" or "barbs" on each fang, this modification is used to dig and gather soil while constructing a burrow. They use their pedipalps and first legs to hold the trapdoor closed when disturbed.^[3]

Tiny's Island

Over Memorial weekend Brent rented a backhoe and dug out the pond and made an island, quickly my daughter say's "I want to name the island Tiny Island" so it was!

Ouma's Birthday

We celebrated my grandmothers birthday this weekend, she was so happy and it was so nice to have everyone there.

We had a slight mishap with the cake on the way there but no one seemed to mind.

Golf Lessons

Lemonade Stand

Sunday my daughter and niece set up a lemonade/cookie stand. They made $6 which is not bad considering they only sold the lemonade for 25 cents a glass.

First House

My brother and sister in law (Brent's brother) bought their first home it is in the town of Norco. On part of the property it has an old meat locker on it, that the city is making them tear down. I took some pictures of it before it is gone. Brent has taken pigs there to be packaged before they closed their doors. We spent Easter Sunday there with Brent's mom, my mom, my brother, my kids, my nephew, Melinda (Brent's mom's best friend).

Ok now were back on track, here is Sierra with Nadit. This is what they call their grandmother (Brent's Mom) they call my mom Ouma.

This is my mom and little brother Travis, he is 14yrs old and towers all of us.

We took our new boat out to Lake Elsinore on Saturday the kids would not get in the water to scurf or knee board so we just fished, we caught 3 catfish and I caught one bluegill.

Rhino Ride

About 2 Saturdays ago Brent, Andy, Casey, and all the kids and I went on a Rhino ride to the old Crawdad hole. We wanted to see if the Crawdads were still there, back in the day this hole was full of them. Here are some photos of that lovely day.The water hole is to the left of them.We found some old Indian Mortar Holes in some of the rocks. We have named this type of bird Oliver every time we see one we tell my son there is Oliver, he comes and visits our pond quite often I am sure it is not the same bird however my sons believed that every time we saw one of these birds it was Oliver. No matter where we were he thought Oliver was following us.

These are Casey's legs he is trying to retrieve some old drift wood for the aquarium he could not reach it so Brent went in for it.

My son was jumping his dirt bike yesterday and he said "he got swirly in the air" and landed on the peg and of course was not wearing the appropriate protective gear and we ended up in the emergency room. He got a total of 8 stitches, and a lesson well learned.
and on a more positive note both of my children received Student of the Month awards for February I am so proud of them.

Sunday we lost Leslie Mcbride she was my children's day care provider for my children from the age of 6weeks, she was one of the most loving, caring, patient, and gentle person I knew. My heart aches and she will be truly missed. I love you Leslie.

Weekend of Birthdays and Pampering

This weekend was packed with pampering and birthday parties, on Friday night I went to my really good friends Erica's house and she gave me a facial, she is a wonderful esthetician did I ever mention I am an Esthetician also! I just never do it :) Here is some pics of that night.

On Saturday it was Sierra's day to get pampered she went to a birthday party for her friend Kamryn, they went to a salon called Monkey Dooz, she got her hair, make-up and nails done. Here are some pictures of that day.

Black Eye

My poor Sierra got a black eye last week we were grocery shopping and she wanted to push the cart, her dad came up behind her and scarred her which led her to push the cart into the isle then she hit the cart. We messed around with the camera and took some pics to remember the dreaded black eye. She was actually a good sport about it considering she is always concerned with how she looks.

This is a more recent picture it is slowly going away (check out my nephew digging for gold in the back groung) LOL!

Christmas Recitals

My daughter preformed in a Christmas Program for her Hip Hop class. They preformed to the Gingerbread Man, they require you apply make-up which makes her look so much older. Here are some pics.

My children also preformed at their schools Christmas recital. Too cute.

This year we went camping to Lucerene Valley, CA it is sometimes referenced as Johnson Valley.

The Turkey was a great success I cooked it in an electric roaster oven it came out perfect.

The rest of the weekend was spent finding crystals, hunting, riding, site seeing and taking lots of photos.

We even found a pig roaming amongst the desert! We tried to keep him but we went out on a ride and when we returned he was gone we think the owners of him rightfully came to claim him back.

my son ordered the Alligator and ate it all he loved it! I had the Venison Stuffed Mushrooms they were delicious. Here are some pictures of the huge fish tank in the center of the restaurant and few pictures outside the restaurant.
This is the first photo my children have with Santa, and if you can believe it or not they still believe in him. This restaurant is located next to Bass Pro Shops and Santa was there.

We were off on a lovely Saturday morning to get pedicures my daughter, niece and I. We had no idea what we were driving into. We were at the salon for about an hour and on the drive home I was able to capture some cool photos of the fire on the 91fwy, and luckily get thru before they shut the freeway down. My deepest symphony goes to the people who lost their homes in this fire.

Hmm not so sure about this show I watched last night it was a bit disturbing seeing fathers having such a close relationship with their fathers maybe that is because I did not have much of one with mine growing up. Then I was thinking this would be a great gesture for my husband to do with my daughter then he started watching and could not bare it anymore and made me change the channel he said it was just too creepy. The thought of saving someones life would be so fulfilling to me I knew this would be a great way to help. So I signed up www.marrow.org I received my tissue testing swabs yesterday swabbed my cheeks and sent it off. We shall see if I am a match for anyone.

Avid hunter in the making my son went on his first hog hunt last night. Here is a cruddy camera phone picture his dad took, of course he did not have the camera with him. My son was so excited and has always wanted to go with his father on a hog hunt and last night was the first time he went and was successful.
